AIR Time interviews Melanie Moore

This month’s AIRTime features Melanie Moore, who is currently in her sixteenth season as Artistic Director of The Contemporary Chorale. Having taught music privately and in the public school system collectively for more than 25 years, she taught both elementary and secondary choral music in the Lake Highlands area (Richardson ISD). Moore has also served as Adjunct Professor of Music Education at Dallas Baptist University where she taught courses in elementary and secondary musical education methods.

In addition to maintaining a private voice studio, Ms. Moore is in demand as a vocal, choral and instrumental accompanist, and vocal/choral coach and clinician, and has coached more than 30 students to the TMEA All-State Choir. With a B.M. in Piano Pedagogy from Oklahoma Baptist University and an M.A. in Music Education from Texas Woman’s University, Moore’s professional affiliations include Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) and Texas Choral Director’s Association (TCDA). Melanie and her husband, Wes, have one daughter, Zoe.

Melanie will be sharing specifically about her experiences as the Artistic Director of the Richardson-based Contemporary Chorale. She will discuss their latest season, and there might be a surprise guest for the audience? If you like show choirs you will definitely enjoy this interview.

The film featured for this AIRTime will be 2012’s PITCH PERFECT (1 hr, 52 min), starring Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow and Rebel Wilson. Beca (Anna Kendrick) is an unenthusiastic college freshman made to join her school’s all-girl show choir group. The rivalry with the school’s all-male group inspires Beca to step up the girls’ act. The movie is hilarious and irreverent with many musical numbers.

Admission is FREE, but when reserving a seat online you must purchase a $5 food voucher which can be used at the event. Walk-ins are welcomed, but a reservation guarantees a seat.

This project is funded in part by the City of Richardson Cultural Arts Commission.

What is AIRTime?

AIRTime is an artist interview series presented by AIR4arts. The event was formerly held live on stage at the Alamo Drafthouse in Richardson, Texas. In 2020 we shifted to provide a virtual experience.

Not able to tune in live with us? A recording of the interview will be made available shortly after the event. As always, each and every AIRTime interview can be listened to at your leisure as a podcast on Apple Podcasts or in your favorite podcast player.
